I am glad to have you here. how are you doing today? how is your week? Mine is busy as usual,Kids are about to go on summer break which means It will be busy around here figuring ways to keep them busy and I am looking forward to sleep in for few weeks.. Anyway I am excited to share this idea I had a while ago.

It all began with a simple swatch after flipping though my stitch dictionary book for inspiration and I fell in love with this stitch. The cleanliness and texture of this stitch is so versatile and classic that I designed two other other patterns using it you can find Glam beanie and Glam shawl here .

This is a variation of a basic stitch single crochet. When you make a normal single crochet, it makes 2 loops on top which creates a V shape. The V gives you the front and back loops.If you are not sure what I mean by front loop, it is the one closest to you as you crochet.

Normal single crochet stitch is made by inserting your hook in both loops as I mentioned above, but for this cup cozy pattern, you only insert the hook on the loop closest to you and voila!!

This pattern is very basic, uses worsted weight yarn, 4.5 or 5mm hook depending on how tight you crochet. It is made in the round and you need to turn your work when you reach the end.

Making sure you don’t twist the chain, join with slip stitch onto the first ch.

Round 1: sc in the first ch & into each ch until end of round. Join round with sl st into the first st. (35)

Round 2: ch 1 & turn. Sc flo in each st until end of round. Join with sl st into each first st. (35)

Rounds 3-12: repeat round 2. (35)

cut the yarn, weave all ends and enjoy your new cup cozy.

There it is..easy peasy.This can be done in half an hour and the good thing about it is, it is reusable. Put a few in your glove compartment and you do not have to worry about forgetting to ask for a cup sleeve at your favourite coffee shop. You also get to be conscious of our vulnerable planet earth!
