Inspiration

Shawls give a warm embrace and Bibi shawl is no different from other shawl designs I have already. Bibi shawl is inspired by simplicity and basics, as are most of my designs. The stitches used on this shawl are very basic. The simple things in life are the best ones. It is big enough to wrap yourself around and can actually tie it on your back to secure is better when you do not want to keep adjusting it. Let’s face it, they do slip off shoulders sometimes.

Is it beginner friendly?

You may ask, the answer is yes.

When someone learns how to crochet, they learn single crochet stitches. The shawl uses that stitch, The only twist to this design is where you insert the hook. The gorgeous textures create an amazing drape, clean yet subtle lines that look clean.

You can see other patterns from the same stitch. Can you tell Iove it?

About

Bibi shawl is huge, fluffy triangle wrap made from a baby yarn. The reason I chose this yarn was because it is very soft and I love the flecks too.It is Acrylic and polyester combination, the yarn is amazing in blankets as well. This pretty shawl has two sections to it, using one row repeat per section. You essentially make the body with one stitch and finish off with ribbing. I went with ribbing to make a statement with a knit look stitch. This also means once you get the hang of it, you can make while watching a movie or travelling. The fun part is, you can make it as big as you want. Here is another idea, It is a great stash buster project, you could get creative with colours to make it your own. I would be interested to see the shawl using yarn cakes and see all the transitions come to life..

 Yarn

I used a Loops and threads baby yarn calls Flecks which has a silk feel to it and soft with blue freckles to add something extra. It is worsted weight yarn made from acrylic and polyester. One skein is 355yd or 324 m and I used 3 so it is a big shawl.

You can use the following from Lionbrand as well and cant go wrong with them

Color Theory

Jeans yarn

Stitch anti pilling

Blocking

Blocking is recommended for this design because the lines create from the front loop becomes straight and clean. The ribbing at the end also becomes less cramped and more defined. Look closer on the two pictures below and notice the difference?
