How to crochet a lace Stitch; Stitch Tutorial

This year I am playing around more with lacy stitches and I love it so far. I already have few designs using one particular stitch and they are amazing.

This stitch is simple. Elegant and great for a beginner to add to the tool box. It is not only limited to a beginner an experienced crocheter can use it. It uses double crochet stitch throughout and I love that you can use a solid colour or multiple colours and it will still turn out beautifully.

This stitch is great for spring, summer and early spring. Making a garment, such as kimono, poncho or even a scarf is pleasant way to show case the stitch and you get to look fashionable. A blanket is also a perfect project to consider because you can use scrap yarn to make a wonderful colourful item for the whole family to use.

I must admit, I am leaning towards light weight yarn for the stitch, I love the look and the texture better. I used both weight number 3 and worsted weight yarn for this tutorial and you can see the difference on the picture. If you do not like it dense, use a bigger hook

To start you off on patterns that use this stitch, here is Nelly skinny scarf which is perfect for a light accessory while you are out and about.

Let’s get to it and follow the instructions to make this stitch

You need multiples of 7 plus 4

The pattern is q one row repeat which makes it mindless and therapeutic because it is repititive.

Ch 25

Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. Sk 2 chs, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in the 3rd ch. Sk 2 chs, dc in the next 2 chs. * Sk 2 chs, (3dc, ch1, 3dc) in the next ch. sk 2 ch, dc in the next 2 chs. Repeat from the * to the end of the row. Ch 3 & turn.

Row 2: *dc in the next st. (3dc, ch 1 3dc) in the chain 1 sp. Dc in the next 2 sts. Repeat from * to the last st, dc in the last st. Ch 3 & turn.

Repeat row 2 until you reach row the length you want.
