This pattern couldn’t be easier. It is truly a beginner pattern. It can be a sentimental piece for you to the lucky person you make it for. If you are interested in crochet and wondering if you can do it, the answer is YES! You can. This pattern will walk you through step by step in the written instructions as well as the Full tutorial video on YouTube.

Inspiration

I have two beautiful girls whom are fashionistas. I don’t know where they are getting it from because I am not. Anyway, I digress, they love to feel and look Cute, from neutral colours to bright pinks. Sometimes they want to match with me. Whenever I make something for them. I let them pick colours so that they enjoy and feel and like part of the process. I wanted to design something effortless and can be modified easily.

See how we both could wear the same Hat? Who wore is better? I think my daughter is the winner on this one.

Yarn

For this particular pattern I used Paton Yarn which is 100% wool and it category 4 weight yarn. You can use any worsted weight yarn for this pattern. I bet WoolEase, Heartland or Touch of Alpaca  by Lionbrand would be great substitute for this yarn.

I have a video tutorial below if reading through instructions is too much for you. Enjoy!

NOTES

·      Stitches are made vertical, so the beginning chains will be the height of your hat.

·      The folded brim is 3in long but can make is shorter.

·      The pattern uses the 2 basic stitches; single crochet and slip stitch

·      Count your stitches after every row to make sure you did not skip any, the last stitches can easily be missed

·      Measure the circumference of the head before you make the hat for correct sizing.

Pattern

Ch 50 or your desired length.

Row 1: sc in the second ch and on each ch until you have 3 chs left. Sl st in the last 3 chs. (49 sts)

Row 2: ch 1 and turn, sl st in the next 3 sts, put a SM, sc in the next 32 sts, put SM on the last stitch. Sc blo in the next 14 sts. (49sts)

Row 3: ch 1 and turn. Sc in the first st. sc blo in the next 13 sts. Move you SM on the last st. Sc in the next 32 sts. Sl st in the back loop in the next st, put SM, sl st blo in the last 2 sts. (49sts)

Repeat row 3 until you have a circumference you desire.

Measure your hat to match the number you took at the beginning

Finish

Fold your hat and align your stitches for seaming. Use Yarn needle and the tail to seam the beanie from the bottom up. I used mattress stitch which makes an invisible finish.

Continue to weave through the top of the beanie and cinch close. Weave in ends. Add a pompom if you desire.

VOILA!!! YOU ARE DONE.I hope you had fun making the toque.
