Free crochet pattern, Glam DIY Dish cloth- Glam cleaning cloths

3 years ago, we were at a friend’s house for dinner. A drink spilled and my first thought and question was “where is the paper towel?” She said “I don’t use paper towel in my house,I use cloths”. That had me thinking, “oh that’s smart, she is being eco friendly, she is taking care of our planet. why did I not think of that?”.

I have micro fiber cloths in the house already but I went to Micheals the following day to get cotton yarn and start making cloths for the house. I had also seen makes on Instagram posting them and it never occurred to me to make some for my house. As a mom of 2 young kids, there are spills all day, they want to pour milk in their cups which means the counter top get messy or accidentally tipping their water cups during dinner, the lists goes on.

So I bought different colours to make is easier for them. One was for the kitchen, the others were for the living room and bathrooms. Essentially cleaning and dishcloths are readily available. Used ones are thrown in the washing machine at the end of the day and clean ones wait for next spill.

Yarn

The yarn I used is called dishie by we crochet. and it is by far my favourite. It is 100% cotton.I have used cotton yarns before and they felts rough and way too stiff, they get stuck on my hook and my hand would be hurt after using it.. I tried dishie and fell in love with it. There are so many colour choices too that mixing colours would be amazing. It is worsted weight yarn and you can make 2.5 cloths out of it.

STITCH

I used my current favourite stitch single crochet in the front loop. I love the subtle textures it creates and also giving a minimalistic vibe to it.It is one row repeat so it can be therapeutic. It can done in one sitting while you are watching your favourite show. The pattern has 3 different edges to choose from. My ideas behind the edges was to differentiate them incase you want to use them for different purposes. Have type of cloth for the kitchen, one for the bathroom and another for everything else.

If you are not sure how to crochet the stitch here is the Tutorial for it.
